I just returned from a wonderful trip to Washington DC. What a great city! From the little attached brick homes to the expanses of lovelyl parks, it's such a beautiful and inspiring city! We stayed in the Adams Morgan district which is quite an amalgamation of different people and cultures. This was evident in the different culinary experiences we shared: american diner fare, lebanese, italian gelato (couldn't resist), sushi, falafel in a super cool joint modeled after a falafel house in Amsterdam - yes. Amsterdam. Really!

So after dropping off our baggage, donning some comfortable tennis shoes and grabbing some much needed coffee, we headed off to use the nearest metro station a few blocks away and started our whirlwind visit. The Capitol building, the Library of Congress (me surrounded by books = me in heaven), Union Station, then walking along the national mall to the Washington Monument, the World War II Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, the Vietnam War Memorial then headed back to the Adams Morgan via a nice little stroll through the George Washington University campus and back down to the metro. Our feet hurt.
